Brautpaar schaut in die Ferne- gemaltes Hochzeitsbild- Live Hochzeitsmalerei

When you hear the term "live wedding painting," what comes to mind?

Before I met Elisabeth Gecius, I had no idea that wedding painting was even a thing.

But once I learned what it was and how it works,

I was so fascinated that I knew I had to write a short article about it.

I truly believe every couple should know about this unique art form.

Wedding painting means:

  • Painting outdoors at a wedding.
  • Capturing a special moment during the celebration.
  • In practical terms, it means the artist creates a painting or paintings of the bride and groom, the atmosphere, and/or the guests at the wedding.
  • It serves as an everlasting memory.
  • And it makes a wonderful gift—whether given to the bride and groom by someone else or as a gift to themselves.

Who is Elisabeth and how does she work?

Elisabeth has been painting all her life.

After finishing school, she didn’t initially realize she could pursue painting as a profession.

It wasn’t until 2013, when her company sent her to Sweden for a project, that she discovered the possibility of painting as a career.

In 2018, she traveled to the USA, where she hoped to meet artists she admired, particularly in Charleston (South Carolina).

She was given the opportunity to exhibit her paintings in a gallery there.

During this trip, she learned about the emerging trend of wedding painting and experienced it firsthand.

When she returned to Germany, she knew this was the path she wanted to follow!

Elisabeth paints with acrylic paints.

Why acrylic paints in particular?

The advantage of acrylics is that the colors dry quickly, allowing you to easily paint over and correct areas you’ve already painted.

You can book various services with her.

Of course, she will also provide advice.

Live wedding painting

You’ll discuss in advance with Elisabeth what should be painted at your wedding.

Is it the ceremony? The cake cutting? The first dance?Would you like the guests to be included in the painting as well?

Once everything is agreed upon, Elisabeth arrives at the venue two hours before the event begins, ready to set up

and start painting the background.

Throughout the wedding, she takes photos of key moments and captures the scenes you’ve chosen to be painted.

The wedding painting also serves as a wonderful conversation piece. Guests often stop by to chat with the wedding painter and discuss the painting,

making it a delightful topic of conversation throughout the celebration.

Painting from a picture

You can also send Elisabeth a photo from your wedding, and she will transform it into a painting in her unique style.

The photo can be customized to reflect the wishes of the bride and groom, ensuring it captures exactly what you envision.

You can contact Elisabeth through various channels: Instagram or her website. She speaks German and English, and also a little Spanish. Feel free to explore her shop, where she paints many other beautiful portraits and motifs.

Today, we’re going to the museum to view paintings that capture special moments. A painted picture has always served as a representation of a significant moment.

Photos can fade or be deleted, and videos always require access to a computer, but paintings last for eternity when properly cared for.

It’s worth investing in a timeless memory of one of your most cherished days.
